Carla and I decided to go to Gramma and Grampa's house to bake cookies. Gramma is going to show us how to make Layered Christmas cookies (another one of Mike's favorites). As a special perk, she is going to make perogies (my favorite) also.
Carla and Grampa are in the peanut gallery...
Everything needs to be just right.
This woman is amazing.
Carla is the scribe and Grampa is sharing his two-cents now and then.
Gramma has the dough ready for rolling and then cutting.
Carla gets an apron...
for two...
Gramma is keeping a watchful eye.
Carla is doing a fine job.
Ready for the oven.
The cookies are assembled with jelly and then sprinkled with powdered sugar. Each one is a treat.
Now we are moving on to the perogies.
After the dough has been made and allowed to rest for several hours, the farmer's cheese is ground and then mixed with egg and several other ingredients. Gramma then places a healthy sized ball onto each piece of dough.
She definitely has a technique for the completion of each perogie.
I jumped in to try my hand at the wrap and pinch.
I used a little stretching move before I folded. It worked for me.
Gramma folded a bit more evenly.
Carla's cookies are done. They are beautiful.
Gramma is still making perogies. Each recipe makes 150 of these delicious pie-lets. We used most of the dough to make cheese perogies. Gramma is going to use the rest to make potato ones.
This tree was already up before Thanksgiving. It is so cute.
Looks nice all lit up as well.
The front room would not be complete without a tree, train, and moving Mr. and Mrs. Claus.
The lawn decorations are best appreciated at night.
This house is definitely ready for Christmas.
Lights, lights, lights...
It was so much fun decorating and baking with Gramma and Grampa.
It was so much fun Mom! Great pics! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carla, I had a great time with you as well.
