Getting Ready for a Shower...

The day before the shower was a flurry of activity.
We had the entire front room filled with things ready to go.

An enormous stack of chafing dishes....

A counter full of supplies...

When I came home, I found this "village" of birdhouses ready for painting. That Helmut.... He worked so hard. He said we just needed a few Smurfs running around to complete the scene.

Prizes are ready to go!

One of the prizes was a mum with a bird house.

I thought they looked wonderful.
The hall was in the Youth Center right around the corner from my house. All of the tables were set with tablecloths and ready to go. Carla and I had purchased the mums at Meijers the day before. We put a bird house (painted last week-check previous blob) in each pot.
Each person received an egg (soap) and a bird house magnet. They looked really great.

Amy (our friend from church) prepared the entire food table. She was amazing!
Thanks a million, Amy.

As usual, Gramma outdid herself with the cakes.
I honestly don't know where she gets the energy. She is wonderful.

As you can see, Amy's food table is fantastic. Gramma made the potato salad and the mostacciolli sauce. I made the rest of the food, well, I bought it anyway.

Yet another view of the cake table. Everyone was excited to hear Gramma made the cakes.

We dressed the cakes up with the little bird signs. Renee, I'm sure you recognize the artwork.

Most of the cake was gone by the end of the shower. Gramma made the day super special, thanks, Mom!

The cakes just never end. When it was time for the cakes, Gina started the line. She said, "I have no shame!"

Aren't Mike and Carla cute? We are ready to go...

  2. Thank-you so much, Renee, for the kind comment. You have no clue how much you helped with the invitations. I'm sure you noticed the bird signs; in fact the whole theme was based on your beautiful design. You even helped with the thank-you notes. I need to thank YOU so much for all of YOUR help.

  5. I have to say how sweet it was when Carla opened Renee's gift. She was so overwhelmed with emotion .... not a dry in the house ... or at least not a dry eye here. It was so evident that she missed you. Glad to hear, Renee, that your presence was all around. I just didn't know it.
