Grand Rapids and Holland

Last week I had a presentation in Benton Harbor on the west side of Michigan. Since I was going to be passing by Grand Rapids, I decided to stop in Kentwood and see Renee's painting in the local library. There was so much construction, I ended up parking in a nearby subdivision and walking the quarter mile to the building.

Oh, there it is.

Yup, I'm at the right place.

I can see Renee's work from here.

I entered the building and approached the desk to ask if I would be able to photograph the painting. Everyone was so excited when they learned I was Renee's mom. They were so sweet.

I spent a lot of time here, taking pictures from every angle.

I love this piece. It is beautiful.

As I was taking pictures, the librarian approached and told me there is a book on the second floor with listing all of the artists. I popped up the stairs and found this on display.

Apparently the community put this book together to honor all of the artists whose work was displayed in this library. I was so excited I could barely stand it.

There's Renee's page.

Afterward, I drove to the LaFontsee Gallery. They have a beautiful new building.

I didn't photograph any of Renee's artwork but the gals there were so nice. Apparently someone wrote them an email and told them I was coming....hmm I wonder who that was. Renee, I was so excited and enjoyed every minute of it. I am so ridiculously proud of you.

On Wednesday I drove to Holland to visit Brian's folks. They are the best. They treated me to dinner in a fabulous restaurant and then we went for a walk on the beach.

 We visited this wonderful lighthouse...

and watched the sun go down. There's Janet and Mark.

It was a fantastic evening. Thanks, Janet and Mark, for everything!
